My native country is India. I take great pride in being an Indian. The British ruled India for more than 200 years and it was not until 50 years ago that we got our independence. One of the Spanish governments biggest concerns is that people in Spain lack interest in their membership in the European Union. The euro was adopted in Spain last January and will be fully adopted at the end of February, and it seems to be one of the only signs and reminders that Spain belongs to the EU. Another important and often ignored fact is that the current president of the EU is Spanish - President Aznar acts as the head of the European government.

Chilean economy now stabilizing

According to Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), Chile scored 28 in the ranking of the less risky emerging economies. It was ranked 4th behind Singapore, Taiwan and South Korea. It is interesting to realize that the second Latin American country was Venezuela with a score of about 50 and ranked 19.

This result steams from a macroeconomics policy that has been very careful in keeping indices under control.

Progression and invention are two of those highly valued American ideas that permeate our culture, right up there with wealth and power. We are always looking for better ways of doing whatever it is that we are doing, and therefore we are suckers for anything new because "new and improved" signals progression, which is valued. With this in mind, it would seem that our old methods of doing things would become outdated and not even put into question, much less practice.
