US applauded for recognizing anorexia as a problem

Studying abroad in Spain last semester opened my eyes, wide and clear, to many differences between our two countries, and reading Erin Smith’s words last week in her article “Social pressure causes unhealthy behavior” struck a chord with me. Among other things, Spain is known for its beautiful people, but this attraction comes at the expense of their health.
At first, it seemed as though Spain didn’t have many social problems, especially in comparison to Franco’s dictatorship and the monarchies preceding it.
Aisai bento

I’ve noticed that Americans misuse the Japanese word “bento”. My roommate thought bento was something over rice. You thought so, too? The Commons once served something called “bento chicken”! It actually looked like teriyaki chicken though. Bento is a boxed meal that some times it even includes dessert. Just like your lunch sack. But bento is not just leftovers. Maybe some of the items in your bento are leftovers, but bento is made for the purpose of taking your meal with you.
Our business world

Many of us know no other way to exist other than by relying on millions of other people everyday. We may not personally have contact with them, but we encounter different objects into which they have put their labor. The great majority of us cannot make our own clothes; much less sew on a button. A box of macaroni-and-cheese is the extent of our cooking experience. These are just two of the simple everyday challenges that we do not have to worry about, because we do not have to know how to make clothes or cook a meal.
New York Attack causes mixed emotions

Photographs capture moments in time unlike any other artistic medium. Throughout history there have been many images that have spoken volumes about memorable events from the past, such as photographs from the Great Depression, Watts, Columbine, and the Oklahoma City bombing.
The photographs from the recent attacks on America are no different from any other historical photographs in that the images one sees in those pictures will leave a lasting impression on us for years to come.
Chile: Challenging immigration

Between llamas and chinchillas, colorful hats and the dry altiplano, I was slowly going up the Peruvian Andes in an old bus. The sky was turning into that bloody color and the smell of hard working men was dancing on the tip of my nose. The police stopped the bus and we were forced to get out. I was about to have my first encounter with one of the most corrupted and bureaucratic police forces in South America.

Was the atrocity of September 11th following the repetitive theme that plays throughout history in different parts of the world? Based on the presumptions of the media, this act was committed by the Islamic world of terrorists. However, the networks are trying to make it clear that the war is against terrorism, not followers of Islam. United States citizens of all ages are becoming aware of the Arab world in a way that was never seen before in the history of U.
