ETA continues to terrorize Spain

On September 11, 2001, a new word entered the American vocabulary. Before this, the word was really only used by news anchors and politicians to describe a far-away problem in a far-away land. This new word I speak of is terrorism. It is now on the tip of every American?s tongue, and it is the prime focus of the government?s actions. But before September 11 most Americans were basically oblivious to the existence of any form of terrorism within U.
Confucius: A part of Chinese history

When one thinks of China, many negative images come to mind. Tiennaman Square, human rights violations, Tibet. However, I choose to focus on a positive person in Chinese history- Confucius. Confucius’ philosophy and wisdom greatly influenced ancient and modern China, helping many people learn about nature, the world around them, and their relationships with others. His teachings also helped the Chinese government to rule the country successfully.
Minority Nations in UK Don’t Need Unity

The United Kingdom’s principle island of Britain is composed of England, Scotland and Wales. Scotland, with a population of 5 million, and Wales, with roughly 2.7 million inhabitants, are known as the UK’s minority nations. Meanwhile, the mass majority of the UK resides in England, nearly 50 million. With such discrepancies in population, one ponders whether these minority nations can fully express themselves within the UK.

This is it. Submerged in another language, another culture. I cannot speak or understand all that well, but somehow I am able to live in this country. It is my home for four months. My home. Spanish family, Spanish classes, Spanish food. No more America. No American handshake. “Dos besos” instead — a kiss on each cheek — is how I greet people. No standard American house. Most everyone lives in apartments, and the houses you do see do not share the same outward aesthetic beauty to which we are accustomed.
Disney Perpetuates Gender Stereotypes

What is worrisome is the values those heroes, princesses and villains represent. Using DisneyÂ’s most famous animated motion picture, Cinderella (1950), as an example, the way in which Disney characters are continually cast in traditional gender roles becomes clear.
